Scottish Country Dancing Rules 1. Entries to be sent to the SCD Secretary, Mrs J Riddet, Mote Cottage, Templand, Lochmaben, DG11 1TH (01576 470800) by 1 December 2009 accompanied by entrance Fees. Cheques should be made payable to Dumfries & District Music Festival Association. 2. Scottish Country Dance trophies are to be returned to the SCD Secretary, Mrs J Riddet, Mote Cottage, Templand, Lochmaben, DG11 1TH at least 2 weeks before the date of the festival. 3. All dances must be RSCDS publications and not exceed 32 bars unless otherwise stated in the syllabus. Dances are to be danced 8 times through, unless otherwise stated. 4. Competitors performing the incorrect dance will be disqualified. 5. No person may compete in more than one team in any one class. This does not apply to the Non-competitive Sections 100 to 104. 6. A team must consist of 4 couples, except for Class 100, Story in Dance and Class 103 Demonstration. |
7. Competitors in all classes must intimate on the entry form the name of the dance selected including Own Choices. No change of dance will be allowed. 8. Non-competitive classes will receive helpful comments from the adjudicator. 9. Competitors are required to use the official accompanist or provide their own accompanist. Recorded music may only be used for Class 100. (A CD/Cassette Player will be provided for the competitors use). 10. If entrants have any problems obtaining the necessary music, practise music or books, please contact the SCD Secretary, Mrs J Riddet, Mote Cottage, Templand, Lochmaben, DG11 1TH (Telephone: 01576 470800). 11. Teams are requested to be seated prior to the Section beginning, and remain in the hall until the end of the adjudication. 12. The adjudication may be given at the end of a group of classes. 13. Entrance Fees £8.00 per team for Junior Sections (12 years and under) and £9.00 per team for all others. 14. In all classes where an age qualification is stated, the age will be taken as 1st March of the Festival year.
